Bill Gates’ Daughter Shares Her Unexpected Victory Over the NFL Legend and Her “Nerdy” Confessions on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ Podcast
Phoebe Gates, the 22-year-old daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, has joined a very exclusive club—one that includes only a few who have bested NFL legend Tom Brady. However, it wasn’t in football. During an April 30 appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Gates opened up about her surprising win over the seven-time Super Bowl champion at a celebrity blackjack fundraiser.
Gates recalled that before the event, she “memorized the stats of how you can win blackjack,” treating it as a game of strategy rather than just luck. To her surprise, she ended up sitting across from Brady at the table, ultimately walking away victorious. “Somehow, I ended up at a table with Tom Brady, and I ended up beating him in blackjack,” Phoebe said. “Sophia [Kianni] will not stop talking about it.”
Kianni, Gates’ close friend and The Burnouts co-host, chimed in, admitting that she never lets Phoebe forget about the impressive feat. “I talk about it every day,” Kianni said, clearly proud of her friend’s unexpected victory.
But the blackjack table wasn’t the only memorable moment at the event. Kianni shared her own embarrassing incident when she tumbled down a spiral staircase, resulting in a bloody mess and some unexpected help from none other than Jay-Z. “I’m gushing blood, losing this game. I have no idea how to play,” Kianni recalled. “I look over and the whole crowd is around Phoebe. The mastermind beating Tom Brady at blackjack. And everyone’s like, ‘Who is that girl?’”

Phoebe, who has made waves as the co-founder of Phia, a sustainable fashion platform launched in April with Kianni, took it all in stride. As she sat with Kianni during the podcast, she humorously reflected on the attention that followed her win. “I told everyone I was an influencer. I’m like, ‘It’s called IMG and I model for them. It was tough DNA and IMG, they had a lot of debate over me, but it’s you know, it’s been a busy career,'” she joked, clearly amused by the confusion surrounding her newfound fame.
Despite her celebrity encounter, Phoebe humbly admitted to being “nerdy” and confessed that she didn’t grow up with much knowledge of music, even though she now dates Paul McCartney’s grandson, Arthur Donald. “Oh man, it’s so bad. I’m so bad at music,” she confessed. “I knew about tech stuff growing up, not music stuff.”
Phoebe’s quick wit and light-hearted humor made the podcast appearance a fun and candid conversation, offering a glimpse into her life beyond the spotlight. And while Tom Brady may not remember her name, he certainly won’t forget the girl who bested him at blackjack.
The Call Her Daddy episode provided fans a chance to see a more personal side of Phoebe Gates, as she continues to carve out her own path in the world, far from the shadows of her famous parents.
