Sony Announces ‘Brand New Day’ as the Fourth Spider-Man Film, Set for a 2026 Release
Tom Holland’s spidey senses are tingling once again. At CinemaCon 2025, Sony Pictures officially unveiled the title of the highly anticipated fourth installment in its Spider-Man cinematic universe: Brand New Day. Holland, who reprises his role as Peter Parker, appeared via video at the event, held at Caesars Palace, to tease fans about what’s to come. The film is slated for release on July 31, 2026.
A Fresh Start for Spider-Man
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day follows the dramatic events of 2021’s box office sensation Spider-Man: No Way Home, which shattered the multiverse and brought together actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire alongside iconic Spider-Man villains portrayed by Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, and Alfred Molina. The film’s title draws inspiration from a 2008 comic book storyline that redefined Peter Parker’s world following One More Day, signaling a new era for the beloved hero.
At the conclusion of No Way Home, Holland’s Peter Parker faced an uncertain future after enlisting the help of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to erase himself from the memories of MJ (Zendaya) and his closest loved ones. Brand New Day is expected to explore the repercussions of that fateful decision while setting a bold new course for the character.
Tom Holland’s Excitement for the Project
Fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of the fourth Spider-Man installment, and Holland reassured them last October on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the film was progressing smoothly. “Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there,” he said. “Super exciting. Yeah, I can’t wait.” Production is set to begin in the summer of 2025.
Holland and Zendaya’s Expanding Careers
In addition to reprising their Spider-Man roles, Holland and Zendaya are currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey together, a star-studded adaptation featuring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson. Meanwhile, Zendaya is also returning to HBO’s acclaimed series Euphoria and has been spotted filming The Drama, another upcoming movie with Pattinson.
Sony’s Other Major Announcements
CinemaCon 2025 was packed with exciting reveals from Sony Pictures. In addition to Brand New Day, the studio shared updates on its upcoming projects, including director Sam Mendes’ four Beatles biopics and Karate Kid: Legends. Another major announcement was the confirmation that the animated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit theaters on June 4, 2027.
As part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline, Brand New Day will arrive just months after Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. With so much anticipation surrounding these blockbuster projects, it’s clear that Spider-Man’s web-slinging adventures are far from over.
Fans can expect more details to emerge as Brand New Day moves closer to production, but one thing is certain—Peter Parker’s story is far from finished, and the future of Spider-Man has never looked brighter.
