Billy Ray Cyrus’ Son Pleads for His Father to Seek Help in Emotional Open Letter

Trace Cyrus opens up about his family’s struggles and urges his father to prioritize his health and relationships in a heartfelt message.

Trace Cyrus expresses concern for his father’s health and distant relationships following a controversial inauguration performance.

Billy Ray Cyrus’ son, Trace Cyrus, has written a heartfelt open letter urging his father to seek help, expressing deep concerns about the country star’s wellbeing. The emotional plea, shared on Instagram Wednesday, comes shortly after Billy Ray’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration, which Trace and others close to the family found troubling.

Trace, the biological son of Billy Ray’s ex-wife Tish Cyrus, recounted cherished memories of his father while voicing concern about the man he feels has drifted away. “Since my earliest memories, all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever,” Trace wrote. “The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now.”

A Family’s Struggle

In his message, Trace revealed that he and his sisters, including fellow musicians Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus, have been deeply worried about Billy Ray for years. However, they feel their efforts to connect have been met with resistance.

“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away,” Trace shared. He specifically mentioned his younger sister, Noah, expressing her longing for a relationship with their father. “She’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow, just like me, she still idolizes you though.”

Trace described the family’s collective pain, holding onto memories of a healthier and more present Billy Ray. “We’re all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew, hoping for the day he returns,” he wrote.

A Public Cry for Help

Acknowledging that his father might be upset about the public nature of the letter, Trace emphasized that his intentions came from love and concern. “You’re not healthy, Dad, and everyone is noticing it,” he wrote. “As I write this with tears in my eyes, I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon.”

Trace also shared his personal journey, revealing he’s over a year and a half sober from alcohol. He extended an offer to support his father in seeking help. “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly, but I think I have a pretty good idea, and I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me.”

A Family United in Hope

Billy Ray Cyrus shares six children, including Miley and Noah, with his ex-wife Tish Cyrus, as well as son Christopher Cody from a previous relationship. While the family’s relationships appear strained, Trace’s open letter reflects a deep love and hope for healing.

As Trace concluded, he reaffirmed his commitment to praying for his father and holding out hope for a brighter future. “Till that day comes, I will continue to pray for you.”

The touching plea sheds light on the struggles families face when grappling with concerns for a loved one’s wellbeing, offering a poignant reminder of the importance of connection, understanding, and support.
