Bad Bunny Admits He “Cried Courtside” When Recognizing Adam Sandler at Lakers Game

From courtside tears to comedic chemistry, Bad Bunny opens up about meeting his idol Adam Sandler and starring alongside him in the highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2.

Overwhelmed with emotion—and admittedly tipsy—Bad Bunny reveals the heartwarming moment he finally met his “idol” while filming Happy Gilmore 2 alongside Sandler.

New York, NY — July 24, 2025
Grammy-winning rapper and actor Bad Bunny (Benito Martínez Ocasio) recently confessed to shedding happy tears the first time he spotted Adam Sandler at a Los Angeles Lakers game, during a light-hearted segment on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

At the time, Bad Bunny and Sandler were already co-starring in the upcoming sequel Happy Gilmore 2. Yet despite exchanging texts, the Puerto Rican superstar had never actually met Sandler in person—until that unforgettable courtside moment.

Bad Bunny recalled: “I was on the other side, sitting way over there… When he made eye contact with me, I was like, ‘Bro!’ … I cried. He knows who I am!”

Sandler jumped in with his own memory of the encounter:

“He was with one of my daughters—my girls saw him and started freaking out. We locked eyes, and I sent some love from across the court.”

Bad Bunny confessed that a few celebratory drinks beforehand might have made the moment even more emotional.

“I was a little tipsy,” he admitted, explaining he’d been hoping to spot Sandler at one of many Lakers games—but had never succeeded.
“He’s here,” the singer recalled announcing dramatically to his friend when Sandler finally appeared.

A Sequel Full of Surprises

Happy Gilmore 2 brings back Sandler in the titular role and welcomes an eclectic ensemble, including stars from the sports world like Travis Kelce. Sandler reflected on the joyful chaos of production:

“I don’t know how it happened… everybody was kind enough to come. Every day, someone cool would show up, and we’d hang out.”

For Bad Bunny, that courtside recognition was more than a celebrity sighting—it was the realization of a childhood dream and a touching affirmation of mutual artistic admiration.

From heartfelt tears in a crowded arena to comedic gold on screen, Bad Bunny and Adam Sandler’s friendship has already become a memorable chapter in the lead-up to Happy Gilmore 2—and fans can’t wait for more.
