JoJo Siwa Breaks Silence on Breakup with Kath Ebbs: “I Did Not Cheat with Chris Hughes”

JoJo Siwa sets the record straight on her emotional split from Kath Ebbs, denying cheating rumors and opening up about her bond with Chris Hughes and the chaos that followed the Celebrity Big Brother U.K. finale.

The singer and reality star sets the record straight about her split with Kath Ebbs, addressing accusations, emotional confusion, and her friendship with Chris Hughes after Celebrity Big Brother U.K.

JoJo Siwa is speaking out candidly about the emotional fallout from her recent breakup with Kath Ebbs, following a swirl of rumors surrounding her close friendship with Love Island alum Chris Hughes. In a heartfelt conversation on The Viall Files podcast hosted by Nick Viall, the 21-year-old entertainer cleared the air about the night of the split and what really happened behind the scenes after Celebrity Big Brother U.K.

“Chris Had Nothing to Do with It”

Siwa, who had developed a tight bond with Hughes during their time on the reality show, strongly denied that he played any role in the end of her relationship.

“Obviously, a lot of people think that Chris has something to do with it,” she said. “Chris does not have absolutely anything to do with it. Chris and I are friends. We have a very, very great friendship.”

She added, “I understand Chris and I are very tight. We have this very beautiful bond, this very beautiful connection, but don’t paint it out to look like I cheated on you with him because I did not. I will nail my feet into the ground, and I will stand on that ground.”

The Breakup: Two Very Different Stories

The drama erupted after Kath Ebbs, 27, posted — and later deleted — a 13-minute emotional TikTok video, claiming they were “humiliated” after Siwa broke up with them during the wrap party for the show. In the video, Ebbs said they had flown across the world to support Siwa, only to be “dumped at the after-party with Chris in the next room, which is f—ing crazy to say out loud.”

Siwa, however, described the night very differently. She explained that Ebbs initially didn’t want to attend the wrap party and had asked to talk privately at the hotel. Siwa preferred to wait until the next day, as she was emotionally exhausted and needed time to process her thoughts after weeks of isolation in the Big Brother house.

“I’m already having all these crazy thoughts that I’ve been having in the house and I need to formulate them,” Siwa said. “I need to talk to my mom, I need to be alone, I need to look at my phone, I need to see what’s going on. I’m not in a place to talk.”

According to Siwa, Ebbs later showed up at the party unexpectedly and confronted her.

“All of a sudden, we’re at the wrap party for Big Brother, I’m getting cussed out,” Siwa said. “I understand why they’re angry and they’re coming at me. But I also keep reiterating, like, ‘I’m not in a place to talk.’ I haven’t slept in 24 hours, I don’t know what’s going on. It’s just a whirlwind.”

When Ebbs asked directly whether Siwa wanted to end the relationship, she responded with honesty:

“I said, ‘If you ask me tomorrow, I don’t know my answer. If you ask me right now, my answer is yes.’ That, obviously, was taken as yes.”

Ebbs Responds: “Only One Side of the Story”

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Ebbs expressed disappointment at Siwa’s public retelling of the night.

“It’s really unfortunate that my relationship with this person is being reduced to untrue allegations about what happened at a party,” they said. “The public has only heard one side of the story. Attacks on my character are not something I take lightly, especially from someone I cared for deeply and shared a committed relationship with.”

Ebbs previously said in their video that the emotional distance and blurred boundaries seen on national TV “were not fabricated.” While they declined to elaborate on Siwa’s bond with Hughes, Ebbs cryptically added, “I have opinions. I’m not gonna say them now. In terms of their relationship, that’s their journey. Enjoy.”

A Whirlwind of Emotion and Self-Discovery

Throughout the podcast, Siwa admitted to feeling overwhelmed, disoriented, and unsure of her feelings after being locked in the Big Brother house for 20 days with 13 other people.

“All I’m saying to every question [Ebbs] asks is, ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Are you this?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Are you that?’ ‘I don’t know.’ ‘Are you happy in our relationship?’ ‘I don’t know.’”

She also touched on the internal journey she has been undergoing around her own identity, saying, “I need to realize what am I feeling. I’m not in a place to talk.”

Friendship with Chris Hughes: Something More?

While rumors swirl about a possible romance between Siwa and Hughes, she insists that their bond is purely platonic — for now.

“Life is life, and you never know where life is gonna take you,” Siwa said. “But I can tell you today, right now, Chris and I are friends. We have a great special bond but we are friends.”

As the internet continues to speculate and take sides, both Siwa and Ebbs remain firm in their respective accounts. One thing is clear: behind the headlines lies a complex story of love, identity, and the challenges of navigating young relationships under the microscope of fame.
