The Grammy-winning producer celebrated his 37th birthday by giving fiancée Selena Gomez her first prom experience, marking another sweet milestone in their love story.
Benny Blanco is proving that some high school dreams are never too late to live out — especially when it comes to love.
The acclaimed music producer and songwriter celebrated his 37th birthday on March 8 with a heartfelt, prom-themed party — all to give his fiancée, pop star and actress Selena Gomez, the experience she never had in high school. Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show on April 7, Blanco shared the thoughtful inspiration behind the celebration and gave fans a glimpse into one of the couple’s sweetest memories yet.

“Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday,” Blanco told Hudson, charming the audience with his sentimental gesture.
Blanco revealed that while he had attended prom twice — once with a group of friends and once with a girlfriend — nothing compared to sharing the dance floor with Gomez. “Honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner,” he said, prompting a wave of “awws” from the audience.
As the celebration approached, Gomez was reportedly excited yet unsure of how to prepare. “She didn’t even know, she was like, ‘What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!’” Blanco recounted. “It was like she was really going to prom.”
Staying true to the theme, Blanco even got Gomez a corsage — a classic prom tradition that made the night feel all the more authentic. “I got her a corsage,” he shared proudly, making it clear how much he cherished planning the event for her.
The couple, who announced their engagement in December 2024, continue to charm fans with their affectionate moments. Just recently, they were spotted courtside at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks vs. Celtics game on April 8. The New York Knicks’ official X (formerly Twitter) account captured a cozy photo of the pair cuddled up, captioning it, “Couple of love birds.”

In the image, Blanco gently rested his hands on Gomez’s legs, while the singer and Only Murders in the Building star beamed and covered her face — her stunning marquise-cut engagement ring on full display.
Their love story, which went public in December 2023, has since captured the hearts of fans worldwide. Most recently, the couple released their first collaborative album, I Said I Love You First, which chronicles their journey from strangers to soulmates. According to a press release, the album offers “a unique window into their relationship — before they met, falling in love, and looking to what the future holds.”

And the future certainly looks bright.
From surprise proms to shared studio sessions, Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are showing that true love can be creative, romantic, and — above all — incredibly sweet.
