Ben Affleck is ready to move forward. After breaking his silence on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez in a recent GQ interview, the actor is making it clear—he has nothing more to say on the subject.
A source close to Affleck tells PEOPLE, “Ben’s doing well. The GQ story was kind of all about clearing the air one last time. He’s done talking about JLo. He’s not proud that their marriage didn’t work out. He didn’t want to hurt her. But now he wants to just focus on his kids and work.”
In the interview, Affleck, 52, emphasized that there was “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue” behind his split from Lopez, 55, whom he married in July 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and their split was finalized in January 2025, with both officially declared single on February 21.
A New Chapter for Affleck
The Argo director remains focused on his work, with the source noting, “He’s very passionate about work and excited about upcoming projects. He thrives when he’s busy.”
His next film, The Accountant 2, hits theaters on April 25, marking his first big-screen appearance since 2023, when he starred in Air and made his final appearance as Batman in The Flash.
As a filmmaker, Affleck continues to develop projects alongside longtime collaborator Matt Damon, including the upcoming crime thriller RIP. He is also producing the upcoming musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring Lopez, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and is expected to release in the fall.
A Respectful Goodbye
Despite the media attention surrounding their breakup, Affleck maintains that his life is “pretty drama-free.” He also made it clear in the interview that he has nothing but respect for Lopez.
“I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,” he said. “But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.”
While Lopez moves forward with a new home and Affleck immerses himself in work, both stars appear to be closing this chapter of their lives with grace.
