Actress Keira Knightley showcases her unique talent for Cher during a surprise performance on The Graham Norton Show, leaving the music legend in awe.
Keira Knightley is known for her acting chops, but it turns out she has a musical talent that’s just as impressive—if not more so—when she plays “Believe” by Cher… on her teeth. The actress recently surprised the legendary singer herself with an impromptu rendition of her iconic 1998 hit during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
As the two sat together on the studio couch, Knightley, with a playful grin, began to flick her fingers against her teeth, producing the familiar melody of “Believe.” Cher was visibly shocked, exclaiming, “She’s hitting the notes!” in amazement. “How do you know what you’re—”
Knightley explained her surprising skill, recalling how she first learned it as a child. “There was a kid at school who was cool, and he could do it, so we all did it,” Knightley explained. Despite the light-hearted banter, the actress confidently delivered the notes with precision, earning further praise from Cher. “You hit the notes!” Cher continued, clearly impressed.
Knightley’s toothy musical talent isn’t just a one-off performance. In fact, she’s been showcasing her skill on talk shows for years, first tapping out “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” on her teeth during an Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance in 2006. Later, in 2019, she played “Despacito” on The Tonight Show, describing how the trend took off in her school after a boy performed a similar trick on a TV talent show.
While the actress humbly acknowledged the “pointless” nature of the skill, as host Graham Norton noted, “It’s really clever… but so pointless,” Knightley remains proud of her unusual talent. “I can only use it here,” she laughed, pointing to the stage.
Keira Knightley, known for her roles in Pirates of the Caribbean and Pride & Prejudice, is no stranger to captivating audiences both on and off-screen. Knightley will next be seen in the Netflix thriller Black Doves, premiering December 6.
Cher and Knightley’s unexpected duet is a delightful reminder that talent can come in the most surprising—and charming—forms. Watch the full clip of their performance above.
