Actress, entrepreneur, and activist Yolanthe Cabau welcomed a curated guest list of industry insiders, influencers, and advocates for an unforgettable night spotlighting Free a Girl, the global nonprofit she co-founded.
In collaboration with Deadline, the event offered a deeply personal and unflinching look at the organization’s undercover rescue work. At the heart of the evening was an exclusive screening of never-before-seen footage documenting real missions across trafficking hotspots in nine countries—a segment deemed too sensitive to be included in Cabau’s hit Netflix docuseries YOLANTHE.
The harrowing short film transported guests into the dangerous and delicate world of child rescue operations, providing rare access to the ethical decisions, emotional toll, and sheer courage involved in dismantling trafficking networks. The impact was immediate and profound, drawing the room into silent reflection.
A panel discussion followed, led by Deadline’s Executive Editor Antonia Blyth. Cabau was joined by Lara Lessing, Director of Free a Girl USA, and Lane Terzieff, founder of partner NGO UNIT-E. Their dialogue was anything but surface-level, exploring the complexities of international rescue work, survivor-led justice systems, and the urgent need for policy and societal reform.
“Hope is not wishful thinking, it is a strategic action,”
— Lara Lessing, whose global advocacy experience spans active trafficking zones and legislative change.
Her words resonated with the room, echoing the night’s central theme of hope as a tool for justice.

Terzieff brought a grounded, first-hand account of fieldwork, shedding light on the ethical weight of making real-time decisions under immense pressure. Together, the speakers dismantled the myth that awareness alone is enough—real change, they emphasized, demands resilience, strategy, and financial commitment.
The audience—composed of familiar faces like Jaime King, Tara Reid, Jason Ritter, Amanza Smith, and Sound of Freedom executive producer Paul Hutchinson—lent their presence and platforms to help amplify this vital message. In Hollywood, where attention is currency, their attendance underscored a collective recognition: silence is complicity.
Cabau, whose Netflix docuseries became the most-watched title in the Netherlands within 12 hours of its release, continues to use her global visibility as a force for good. Represented by Huzur Yilmaz (Netherlands) and Liz Fuller (U.S.), her work merges entertainment and activism with clarity of vision and fierce intention.
Since its inception in 2008, Free a Girl has rescued over 8,500 children and helped facilitate the arrest of more than 4,000 traffickers. But perhaps its most groundbreaking initiative is the School for Justice, where survivors are trained to become lawyers, journalists, and law enforcement professionals—embedding change into the very systems that once abandoned them.
“A rescue is never just about one child,”
— Yolanthe Cabau reminded guests in her closing remarks.
“It’s about the world around her. It’s about the healing, the justice, the transformation that follows when we believe in her potential and invest in her future.”

The evening didn’t end with champagne flutes and staged snapshots—it closed with tears, ovations, and a collective call to act.
In a city known for stories, this night told one that demands a sequel far beyond Hollywood.
